Fieldwire is seeking a Platform Engineer with a focus on tooling and automation to ensure that Fieldwire can rapidly deploy new features and services to our growing user base. We are searching for an experienced engineer to collaborate with our engineering teams to develop a highly efficient, secure, and reliable system.

You will play a significant role in shaping the Fieldwire platform by identifying and championing process and infrastructure improvements. As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that powers our applications, which are critical for the construction teams that use Fieldwire to save time and money on the job site.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the Fieldwire infrastructure while architecting the platform of the future. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Designing, building, and automating the Software Development Lifecycle and Infrastructure that powers Fieldwire
• Developing and maintaining monitoring systems to ensure maximum uptime and collect critical metrics that inform engineering decisions
• Troubleshooting issues related to application performance and security in Fieldwire systems
• Collaborating with engineering teams to create a platform that can scale to meet growing demand
• Iterating and improving on solutions to ensure Fieldwire can maintain its development velocity

A day in the life of a Infrastructure Engineer will be frequently solving these types of problems: 

• IaC project work on developing and improving platform infrastructure. 
• Developing and supporting tools and environments for internal teams 
• Supporting internal development tools 

 

At Fieldwire, we’re looking for our next Infrastructure Engineer to have the following skills and experiences: 

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• At least 3 years of experience as a Platform Engineer or DevOps Engineer
• Expertise in at least one programming language such as Golang, Java, Python, Ruby, or Rust
• Experience managing AWS cloud infrastructure and associated services relating to CI/CD
• Experience with Docker and containerization
• Experience participating in an on-call rotation and responding to production incidents
• Experience developing and building processes around change and incident management
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), such as AWS CDK or Terraform.

Compensation:

Total annualized cash compensation for a Platform Engineer ranges from $145,000.00- $195,000.00 base including annual bonus potential. 

Where is the job located?

This role is fully remote, however our main office is based in beautiful San Francisco, CA. Our office is centrally located right off of Montgomery Bart station. Easily accessible by all forms of public transportation.
