REA - Central Fotovoltaica Mula

REA ensured effective and quality supervision on the Mula plant project by creating and tracking 15,000+ georeferenced tasks in Fieldwire.

REA - Mula Photovoltaic Plant

The largest photovoltaic plant in Europe is already a reality in Murcia, Spain.

The Mula photovoltaic solar plant, a project with 493.74MW peak generating capacity that extends over 1,000 hectares, is today the largest photovoltaic plant in Europe and one of the 20 largest in the world.

The plant, built by Cobra, of the ACS Group, is divided into 33 subplots and has been connected since July, 2019.

Renewable Energy Advisors (REA), was responsible for performing the engineering work of the property and quality control of the entire plant, as well as technical consultancy work for the property.

Key Facts

  • Use of Fieldwire on a €300M project
  • Real-time communication across 1,000 hectares of construction
  • More than 15,000 tasks tracked in Fieldwire

Use Cases

  • Report generation
  • Georeferencing of information
  • Agile communication with the client and subcontractors

REA arises from the need to provide specific services adapted to the new conditions in the framework of renewable energy and energy efficiency. In this sense, the group makes available to its client all the services necessary for the design, execution, and exploitation of a renewable energy project.

In the case of the Mula project, REA used Fieldwire to ensure effective and quality supervision.

“Fieldwire has been a key element in the development of the Mula project. Without Fieldwire's help, we would not have been able to manage a project of this size with so little staff.”

Manuel Ramiro, Construction Manager, REA

Information management and highly improved reporting

One of the main reasons REA chose Fieldwire was for it's simple information management and report generation features, which they needed for better task supervision.

According to REA's construction manager, Manuel Ramiro, Fieldwire not only allowed them to georeference information across more than 1,000 hectares of land, but made it possible for workers to add photos and checklists directly to plans, and thus minimize the time it took them to prepare reports.

“Before using Fieldwire, we lost huge amounts of time in generating reports. Now we are able to be much more effective both in the quality of our elaboration and in the execution times.”

Gerardo Gravina, Project Manager and Technical Advisor, REA

Seamless communication between the client and subcontractors

In addition, Fieldwire's real-time communication capabilities helped REA communciate with the client and subcontractors much more effectively. As a result, the project progressed much quicker than previous projects where Fieldwire had not been used.

"Fieldwire has made it possible to greatly improve vertical communication within a project, allowing us to even respond to Non-Conformities directly from the platform."

Manuel Ramiro, Construction Manager, REA

Fieldwire & REA, a strengthened relationship over the past few years

Having finished the Mula plant project, REA is alreadyy thinking about its next project, the Pamesa photovoltaic plant, where they plan to use Fieldwire again to guarantee success.
