This is a story about one specialty contractor’s positive experience using Fieldwire. Although each business’s results may vary, Fieldwire believes this story is a powerful testimonial in support of the use of construction management technology to save construction businesses time and money.

Before Fieldwire

Prior to this year, Power Design was using PlanGrid to manage its people, projects, and processes. Brad Moore, Power Design’s VDC Technology Manager, realized some shortcomings with the platform and started vetting Fieldwire to be their next solution.

Brad was so impressed by Fieldwire’s ease of use and ability to help his boots on the ground that he campaigned for immediate buy-in and companywide adoption.

One reason Fieldwire was so attractive, Brad said, was that the app considers issues that are unique to specialty contractors, particularly with its task management feature which he finds to be a "robust" planning and productivity tool.

“How the app was developed and built is a lot more aligned with the subcontractor point of view and perspective. It's the MEP people who are using the app, so it has to be easy to adopt and flexible. Fieldwire has all the right ingredients.”

Getting everyone on board quickly and with minimal ramp up would allow Power Design to plan, manage, and prove work right away. The result? Saved time, labor costs, and money.

With Fieldwire

Brad described the transition to Fieldwire as "super simple." The learning curve wasn't steep, either. "Fieldwire has a very familiar look and feel for users," Brad said.

Brad and the Power Design training team onboarded 2,100 users in just eight weeks, deploying 2,000 iPads and migrating $1.4 billion dollars worth of projects off PlanGrid and onto Fieldwire — with zero downtime.

"The task management feature is more day-to-day driven, less about plan management and more about the actual tasks at hand using plans as a backdrop for that."

Ultimately, adopting a solution intended for the trades just made sense for Power Design. "It's the subtleties that make the difference," Brad said.
